Publishing sends your app, exactly as it stands in the editor, out to everyone who has it installed.
Until you publish, the editor is yours alone — your audience still sees the app as it was the last time you published.
That's deliberate. You can spend an afternoon adding speakers, fixing times and swapping photos without your audience watching the app change under them mid-edit. When the whole batch is ready, you publish once and everyone gets all of it together.
How to publish
Open your app in the editor.
Click the orange button at the bottom left, under your list of pages.
A box appears asking whether you want to publish your changes. Click Publish.
Those two buttons are labeled differently the very first time you publish an app: the orange one says Preview App and the one in the box says Next. After that they say Publish App and Publish. They do the same thing either way. That first publish is what gets you your app's my.yapp.us link, so you can open it on a phone. It does not share your app with anyone — sending the link out is a separate step.
You can publish as often as you like. There's no limit, no review, and no app store approval to wait for.
When your audience sees the change
Within moments. The Yapp app checks for updates when someone launches it, when they return to it, and when they pull down to refresh a page. Most people never notice it happening.
The one visible case: if someone is using your app at the exact moment you publish, they get a small prompt asking whether to reload.
Publishing does not send a push notification. If you want people to know something changed, post it on your Announcements page — that does send a notification.
What doesn't need a publish
A few things don't wait for a publish. The app fetches them fresh every time someone looks, so they go out the moment you save them:
posts on an Announcements or Social Feed page, including scheduled posts when their time comes
the push notification those posts send
your replies to comments, and any comment or post you hide or delete
poll and form results as people answer
One catch: this only applies to a page you have already published. If you add a brand new Social Feed page and post to it without publishing, nobody can see the page, so nobody sees the post. Publish once, then post freely.
