Allow your attendees, speakers, and app users to create public profiles that are easily accessible throughout your app

A full, vibrant list of people in your app is a great way for folks to connect with each other. We make it as simple as possible for your attendees, speakers, and app users to create their own profile and add it to the app.

​There are two scenarios where you may want to use our dynamic attendees list features. 

  • Allow profiles added by you to be claimed (and changed) by your attendees
    ​    Many times you have some information about your attendees, speakers, and app users, but not their profile photo or social profiles. With our Profile Claiming setting, a user can navigate to an individual person record and "claim" it, by tapping the "This is me" button to update their info. This will replace the record you created with their profile.

  • Allow people to create their own profile and add it themselves to the page
    ​    There are scenarios where manually updating contacts is a burden, such as updating job titles, bios, and photos. Here you can enable our Profile Claiming setting to allow folks to add a profile on your People page which they can update at any time.

It is usually not recommended to simultaneously enable profile adding and person claiming. If both options are enabled, it is possible to have duplicate entries for the same person (one added by an admin, the other by a mobile user).

What does the profile editor look like?

We've broken it up into 4 parts: 

  1. Personal info

  2. Photo

  3. Contact info

  4. Links

Everything here is optional, so a user can choose to expose as little or as much information about themselves as they are comfortable with

What else did we consider?

  • The profiles are rich and provide users with several ways to connect. Users can upload a profile photo, and provide a full bio, contact info (including WhatsApp numbers), and several social profiles (including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Spotify).

  • It's completely opt-in for users, protecting their privacy by letting them share only what they are comfortable with.

  • The list is cached for offline use, so once it’s downloaded, you do not have to be online to view all the great profiles people have added.

How much control do I have as an app creator?

  • Any profile can be removed from the page from your mobile device or the desktop editor.

  • You can also remove any profile a user has claimed, restoring the original person record from your mobile device or the desktop editor.

  • Once a user claims a profile, they have complete control over the fields displayed. At this time, there is no way to limit which fields they have the ability to modify.

  • If they have yet to create a profile in Yapp, we will copy the info you added to their profile, if any.
